So, I got this as one of my Christmas gifts. My dad said I can switch it out for in ear style if I prefer. So, this is where my problem arises, should I keep these or switch to the in ear style? The smaller ones would be easier to get lost, and I already have the ones that came with my iPhone for everyday use. So I'm kind of leaning towards the ones I have. What would Oppo do?

These do a better job of blocking outside noises and are more comfortable on long trips (great for airplanes). Iphone Iear things can do the rest.

Wait, since when were headphones "made for" certain devices? Like, what's the point of universal interfaces again?

I was thinking the same thoughts.

The Bose headphones are a lot better than the ones you get from apple. But that said Bose headphones may not exactly be the best headphones out there either, depends on what kind of music you listen to.
For my listening style, I use a set of Marshall Monitors

To each his own, but I prefer a good pair of over-ear headphones to buds any day, for many reasons. More comfortable (I think), better sound, better noise cancellation.

Over-ear cans are more comfortable than on-ears for me.

Most in-ear headphones work like earplugs with speakers. Much better sound isolation with much less interference from the active noise cancelling system found in on-ear 'phones that purport to be noise cancelling.

In-ears will block more outside sound, on-ears will possibly be more comfortable and will be easier to take off/put on.

Marketing. You & I know that they're universal, but grandma buying them as a present doesn't know a 3.5mm jack from an HDMI port.

I have to agree with everyone else, keep these. My Apple earbuds are fine enough for running, and that's the only time I use them. Headphones like these are great when I'm at my desk and want to "tune" my coworkers out...

An over-the-ear set would be best, but I'd keep the on-ear. You'll have a lot better sound than those Apple earbuds.

Depends on the use. I have two separate sets. I use my cheapo Skullcandy in-ear set for the gym, and my douchy Beats for at home, in the library, and on airplanes.
I think there's a max level of goodness for in-ear earphones. My $15.00 Skullcandy ones work just fine for wearing at the gym.
However, the Beats are pretty good for all other purposes. I complain a lot about their build quality - they're kinda creaky and lose screws a lot. However, I didn't realize until recently that they're 5 years old; which in headphone years has to be like 60.

Keep those. Over-ear just sound better to me. And feel a lot more comfortable over long periods of time. But I also have strange ears or something because earbuds never stay in my ears, even with the smallest little pads. And even if I sit perfectly still they'll slip out. I got tired of fidgeting with earbuds and made the switch to cans a couple of years ago and haven't looked back since. Plus, when you take them off for a sec, you can just leave them hanging around your neck versus dangling in the way of something like earbuds.

I've shared your post over to http://soundboard.kinja.com/ so hopefully get more responses.
as for your dilemma it's really a case of what's needed and what you like, are you happy to be seen wearing these out and about? or are they going to be used just while at the computer?

I have basically those exact headphones and have to agree with everyone else. Stick with the Headphones. The earbuds are great and possibly the most comfortable around, but they don't sound quite as full and don't block out sound nearly as well. The main question is how often you need headphones on the go vs. when you're at a your desk or something. Earbuds will always win when in comes to convenience since they fit in your pocket.

I would keep the OE. OE sound way better than in ear. I've had the IE,IE2 and OE, and the OE sounded better. That said, I would take a lot of care of them, as they are not durable at all. None of my bose headphones work now.

Unless they are the in ear quiet confort, they won't block any outside noise. It even says that on the package.

Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment. They have the Beats philosophy, just with higher quality audio. Typically still overpriced for what it is.

Keep them. In my limited experience over the ear type have a overall better sound compared to in ear of same quality.

I just kind of assumed nobody still sold the hard plastic ear buds unless they were $5 or came with your phone.
